Healthy Seasoned Gondre Namul that Helps Control Blood Sugar
Gondre, highly regarded since ancient times, is documented in Donguibogam as ‘bitter in taste, non-toxic, capable of dissolving blood clots, stopping bleeding, curing acne and skin blemishes, treating vaginal discharge, and nourishing the blood.’ This precious ingredient is packed with health benefits. Today, we’ll be making a flavorful and delicious seasoned gondre namul using this healthy vegetable. It’s easy for anyone to follow, so let’s create a gondre namul dish that is both healthy and delicious right now!
Main Ingredients- 1 handful of Gondre (approx. 100g), either pre-blanched and frozen or fresh
- 1.5 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp chopped green onion
- 0.5 tsp minced garlic
- A pinch of soy sauce or salt (adjust to taste)
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
1. If using frozen gondre, soak it in cold water for at least 1 hour to thaw. If using fresh gondre, rinse it thoroughly.
Step 2
2. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and blanch the gondre for 1-2 minutes. Blanching with salt will make the gondre’s color more vibrant and appealing.
Step 3
3. Rinse the blanched gondre under cold water to cool it down. Gently squeeze out excess water by hand. This ensures the namul remains tender and not tough.
Step 4
4. Cut the gondre into bite-sized pieces. Cutting it into 2-3 cm lengths makes it easy to mix and eat.
Step 5
5. In a bowl, combine the cut gondre with 1.5 Tbsp sesame oil, 1 Tbsp chopped green onion, 0.5 tsp minced garlic, and a pinch of soy sauce or salt. Gently mix everything together. Adjust seasoning with salt or soy sauce according to your preference. Finally, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
Step 6
6. Your delicious seasoned gondre namul is now complete! It’s a great side dish for rice or can be used as a flavorful ingredient in bibimbap. Enjoy your meal with this aromatic and healthy gondre namul!
