Flavorful Pork Belly Pilaf Recipe
Easy Pork Belly Pilaf
Enjoy a delicious pilaf with fluffy rice, a dish I often make when the rice turns out perfectly chewy! While this isn’t the traditional method, I’ve created a simple version. Adding thinly sliced pork belly elevates the flavor profile significantly! This recipe is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients- 300g thinly sliced pork belly
- 1/2 onion, finely diced
- 1/4 zucchini, finely diced
- 2 bowls of cooked rice (preferably day-old or freshly cooked and cooled)
- 1 egg
Sauce- 3 Tbsp Tonkatsu sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 3 Tbsp Tonkatsu sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables and thinly sliced pork belly by cutting them into bite-sized pieces. Dice the onion and zucchini into small, uniform cubes for a pleasant texture. Cut the pork belly into manageable pieces, about 2-3 cm long, so it cooks evenly in the pan. Cutting all ingredients to a similar size ensures they cook at the same rate.
Step 2
Place the diced onion, zucchini, and sliced pork belly into a frying pan. Lightly season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Turn the heat to high and quickly stir-fry for about 4 minutes, allowing the ingredients to develop flavor without burning. The rendered pork belly fat will beautifully coat the vegetables, adding a delicious depth.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the special sauce that’s key to this flavorful pilaf! In a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of Tonkatsu sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Mix them well. The combination of the sweet and savory Tonkatsu sauce, the salty soy sauce, and the creamy mayonnaise creates a uniquely delicious taste that everyone will love.
Step 4
To the pan with the quickly stir-fried vegetables and pork belly, add 2 bowls of fluffy cooked rice. Gently break up any clumps of rice with a spatula and mix it thoroughly with the other ingredients.
Step 5
Pour the prepared special sauce evenly over the rice and mixed ingredients in the pan. Be generous with the sauce to ensure it coats every grain of rice and ingredient.
Step 6
Reduce the heat to medium and stir-fry the mixture gently, ensuring each grain of rice is coated with the sauce and ingredients. Continue to cook for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the rice is slightly chewy and everything is well combined. This step ensures a perfectly cooked and flavorful pilaf!
Step 7
Top the hot pilaf with a freshly fried egg. Drizzle a little extra mayonnaise and sprinkle with parsley flakes for a restaurant-style presentation. Although it resembles fried rice, the addition of Tonkatsu sauce gives it a distinctive and exciting flavor that sets it apart. Enjoy your delicious meal!
