- 1/2 onion
- Scallions or green onions, a small amount
- 1 fresh egg yolk
- Sesame seeds, a pinch
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
Beef Brisket Marinade
- 1 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin)
- A pinch of black pepper
Special Sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp fish sauce (anchovy or tuna)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp allulose (or stevia)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 50ml water
- 1 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin)
- A pinch of black pepper
Special Sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp fish sauce (anchovy or tuna)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp allulose (or stevia)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 50ml water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the beef brisket into bite-sized pieces, about two or three cuts. Thinly slice the onion and finely chop the scallions or green onions for garnish. Carefully separate the egg yolk from the white and set the yolk aside.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the special sauce. In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp fish sauce, and 1 Tbsp oyster sauce.
Step 3
Next, add 0.5 Tbsp sugar and 1 Tbsp allulose for sweetness. Stir everything well until the sauce ingredients are fully combined and the sauce is smooth. If you don’t have allulose, you can use stevia or another sweetener.
Step 4
For the beef brisket, add 1 Tbsp of cooking wine (mirin) and a pinch of black pepper. Gently mix to marinate the brisket. This step helps to remove any gamey smell and enhances the flavor.
Step 5
Place the marinated beef brisket in a preheated pan over medium heat. Cook until it’s nicely browned and slightly crispy. Beef brisket cooks quickly, so be careful not to burn it. Aim for a delicious, golden-brown color.
Step 6
While the brisket is cooking, heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a separate pan. Add the thinly sliced onions and sauté until they become translucent and slightly sweet. Sautéing the onions brings out their natural sweetness, which adds another layer of flavor to the dish.
Step 7
Once the onions are translucent, pour in the special sauce you prepared earlier and bring it to a simmer. Add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic and let the sauce reduce by about half until it thickens slightly. Turn off the heat once it reaches your desired consistency. Be mindful not to over-reduce, as it can become too salty.
Step 8
It’s time to assemble the rice bowl! Place the warm cooked rice into a serving bowl. Top the rice generously with the sweet sautéed onions. Then, arrange the nicely browned beef brisket on top of the onions.
Step 9
After adding the rice, onions, and brisket, drizzle the warm, reduced sauce evenly over the ingredients. For the final touch, carefully place the fresh egg yolk right in the center of the bowl. (Oops, the yolk broke a little! It’s okay, we’re going to mix it anyway! 😊) Sometimes presentation can be tricky, but the taste will be amazing!
Step 10
Finally, sprinkle some sesame seeds over the top and garnish with the chopped scallions or green onions. Your delicious Chadolbagi Deopbap is now ready to be enjoyed!
Step 11
And there you have it – a wonderful Chadolbagi Deopbap! This is a perfect #OneBowlMeal or #EasyMeal, a truly satisfying beef brisket dish. Enjoy your meal!
