  • 2.5 sheets of square fish cakes (approx. 150g)
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1/3 stalk of green onion (white part)
  • 1/5 carrot

Seasoning & Others

  • 1-2 Tbsp oyster sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 2 pinches of stir-fry salt (or soy sauce)
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1-2 Tbsp cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, finely dice the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. Similarly, finely chop the onion, carrot, and green onion. Smaller vegetables blend better with the rice. (Tip: Briefly blanching the fish cakes in boiling water can remove excess oil for a cleaner taste.)

Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and green onion, and sauté until fragrant. Season with 2 pinches of salt and a pinch of pepper while stir-frying to bring out the vegetables’ natural sweetness.

Once the vegetables are slightly tender, add the diced fish cakes and stir-fry them together. Fish cakes don’t need long cooking, so stir-fry for just 1-2 minutes until they are well combined with the vegetables.

Now, add 2 servings of cooked rice. Break up any clumps with a spatula and stir-fry until all ingredients are evenly mixed. Add 1-2 tablespoons of oyster sauce to season to your liking. Adjust the amount of oyster sauce based on your preference. (Tip: Using hot cooked rice helps prevent clumping. If using cold rice, microwave it briefly before adding.)
