Enchanting Snowball Cookies with Cocoa and Purple Sweet Potato
Create Adorable Snowball Cookies: Simple Yet Whimsical
Snowball cookies, as their name suggests, are delightful, round treats that evoke the image of soft snowflakes. This recipe adds a magical touch with vibrant colors from cocoa powder and purple sweet potato powder, creating a visually stunning and subtly flavored cookie. They are incredibly simple to make and perfect for sharing!
Basic Ingredients- 100g Cake flour
- 30g Almond flour
- 20g Powdered sugar
- 90g Unsalted butter, softened
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before you begin, take 90g of unsalted butter out of the refrigerator and let it soften at room temperature until creamy. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter until smooth, then add 20g of powdered sugar and mix until well combined. Continue to whisk until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, sift together 100g of cake flour and 30g of almond flour. Sifting them twice will ensure they are well-aerated and free of lumps, making for a smoother dough.
Step 3
Add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed butter mixture. Using a spatula or bench scraper, gently cut and fold the ingredients together until a cohesive dough forms. Be careful not to overmix; just combine until no dry flour is visible. Divide the dough into two equal portions. To one portion, add 5g of cocoa powder and gently mix until uniformly colored. To the other portion, add 8g of purple sweet potato powder and mix until evenly colored.
Step 4
You now have two beautifully colored doughs ready to become charming snowball cookies – one chocolate, and one a lovely purple hue!
Step 5
Weigh out about 10g of each dough portion. Roll them gently between your palms to form uniform, small balls. Aim for bite-sized cookies. Place the shaped dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring there’s a little space between each cookie.
Step 6
Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (338°F) for 12 to 15 minutes. Keep an eye on the cookies as they bake, as oven temperatures can vary. You want them to be lightly golden rather than deeply browned. Avoid opening the oven door frequently during baking.
Step 7
Once baked, carefully remove the cookies from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly. While they are still warm, place a generous amount of powdered sugar in a plastic bag or a large bowl. Gently add the cookies and shake the bag (or toss them in the bowl) until they are evenly coated with powdered sugar.
Step 8
After the first coating, allow the cookies to cool completely. Once fully cooled, repeat the process by rolling them in more powdered sugar. A second coating will give them that perfectly pristine, snow-covered appearance.
Step 9
And there you have it! Deliciously crumbly and melt-in-your-mouth snowball cookies, beautifully decorated to look like snow, are now effortlessly made. Enjoy these delightful treats with your loved ones!
