I’ve discovered a method to quickly and easily create those appealing cross (‘十’) cuts on sausages. You might already know this trick, or perhaps it’s a common method, but I’ve refined a way to make it faster and more efficient. With this technique, your sausage dishes will look more appetizing and be a breeze to prepare.
Key Ingredients- Sausages of your choice
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Plump and delicious sausages! They’re a favorite side dish for both kids and adults, but sometimes making them look special by scoring them can feel tedious. Don’t worry! I’m here to share a simple and quick method to create beautiful cuts on your sausages. Just follow along, and you’ll have a fantastic-looking sausage dish in no time!
Step 2
First, line up your sausages side-by-side in a single row. Arranging them neatly, like they’re standing in a queue, is the key.
Step 3
Now, gently press down on the sausages to create a line where they will be divided in half. You don’t need to press too hard; a light touch is sufficient. This step will prepare them to be split into two sections at once.
Step 4
With the sausages divided in half, hold the top part firmly with your hand to prevent them from moving. Then, tilt your knife and make horizontal scores across the top surface. Crucially, keep your holding hand in place – don’t lift it, or the sausages will slip! When scoring, hold the knife at an angle and proceed carefully.
Step 5
While still holding the sausages down, gently roll them slightly forward or backward. This action will align all the horizontal scores you just made into vertical positions. It’s like drawing the guidelines for a cross shape.
Step 6
Now, tilt your knife again and make scores in the same direction as before. This final step will complete the lovely ‘十’ (cross) pattern on the surface of your sausages.
Step 7
Voila! While they might not be perfectly symmetrical crosses, you’ve finished preparing your sausages incredibly quickly and easily. These scored sausages can be made ahead of time, stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and then simply grilled whenever you want a meal. It makes serving so convenient, and they look much more appealing!
Step 8
This method saves you time and effort by eliminating the tedious task of scoring each cut individually. Elevate your sausage dishes with this simple yet effective technique!
