French Toast Pizza Bread Recipe Using Sliced Bread
Make delicious and satisfying French Toast Pizza Bread easily with sliced bread, using up any leftover vegetables and chicken breast you have in the fridge. It’s perfect as a hearty meal, or even as a delightful snack for kids or a brunch option.
Main Ingredients- 2 slices of bread
- 1 pack of chicken breast
- 1 onion
- 1/4 zucchini
- 1/2 king oyster mushroom
- 10 cherry tomatoes
- 2 eggs
- A little milk (about 1/3 cup, or 1/3 the amount of eggs)
- A little butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Melt some butter in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Sauté the sliced onion until translucent and fragrant. Sautéing the onions well will bring out their natural sweetness and balance any richness.
Step 2
Once the onions are well-cooked, add the diced zucchini and sauté together. Avoid overcooking the zucchini, just cook until it’s slightly softened but still holds its shape.
Step 3
Next, add the diced king oyster mushrooms and stir-fry everything until well combined. Cook until any moisture released by the mushrooms has evaporated.
Step 4
Finally, add the halved cherry tomatoes and sauté briefly. Spread all the cooked vegetables evenly in the pan and let them cool slightly. Season lightly with salt and pepper at this stage.

Wipe the pan clean, or use a separate one. Place the chicken breast in the pan and cook until golden brown on both sides. Since pre-cooked chicken breast is often used, lightly searing it is sufficient.

Once the chicken breast is nicely browned, remove it from the pan and let it cool slightly. Be careful not to cut it while it’s too hot, as it might crumble.

Cut the bread slices into your desired size. You can leave them whole like a sandwich, or cut them into quarters or sixths for easier eating.

In a bowl, crack the 2 eggs. Pour in the milk until it’s about 1/3 the volume of the eggs (roughly 1/3 cup). Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar, then whisk gently to create the egg mixture. Be mindful not to add too much milk, as it can make the bread soggy.

Dip the cut bread slices into the egg mixture, ensuring they are well coated on both sides. Place the soaked bread in a pan with melted butter over medium-low heat and cook until golden brown on each side. Cook slowly to avoid burning the outside while the inside remains uncooked.

Now, lightly butter the inside of an oven-safe dish or a microwave-safe deep bowl. This helps prevent the food from sticking. Arrange the lightly fried bread slices at the bottom of the dish.

Evenly spread the cooked vegetables over the bread, and then layer the cooked chicken breast on top, filling any gaps. Layering the ingredients makes for a more substantial dish.

Finally, generously top with mozzarella cheese or cubed cheese. (If using cubed cheese, it might not melt well. You can briefly microwave it before adding, or extend the microwave time later.) Sprinkle with powdered cheese if desired for extra appeal. Microwave for about 2 to 2.5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. (Adjust the time based on your microwave’s power.)
