Ingredients- 1 Hotteok mix package (all contents)
- 180ml water
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, in a large bowl, add the entire contents of the Hotteok mix package. Measure out the included dry yeast, 180ml of water, and 3 tablespoons of cooking oil. Follow the instructions on the Hotteok mix box; it’s quite straightforward!
Step 2
Now, pour the prepared water and cooking oil over the Hotteok mix powder. Use a spatula or your hands to mix everything together until it forms a cohesive dough. It might look shaggy at first, but keep mixing, and it will gradually come together into a smooth dough ball.
Step 3
Once the dough is smooth, lightly dust your work surface with extra flour (you can use some from the Hotteok mix or all-purpose flour). Place the dough on the floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough into a thin rectangle, about 2-3mm thick, making sure to dust it lightly to prevent sticking. (Tip: If the dough is rolled too thick, the rolls will be bulky; if too thin, they might tear.)
Step 4
Spread the Hotteok filling mix evenly over the rolled-out dough. If you don’t have the filling mix, you can create your own by mixing sugar, cinnamon powder, and melted butter. Once the filling is spread, carefully roll up the dough tightly from one end. Rolling it firmly will help create beautiful cinnamon roll shapes.
Step 5
Cut the rolled dough into desired sizes, about 2-3cm thick. Use a sharp knife or a bench scraper for clean cuts. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the cut cinnamon rolls on it, leaving some space between them. This allows room for them to puff up as they bake.
Step 6
Now it’s time to bake! Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 15 minutes until the tops are golden brown. Once they’re golden, carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven and flip each cinnamon roll over. Return them to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes. In total, about 25 minutes of baking will result in perfectly cooked, delicious cinnamon rolls with a slightly crisp exterior. They are best enjoyed warm right out of the oven!
