Main Ingredients- 4 large, plump shrimp
- 2 Tbsp onion (approx. 1/4 small onion)
- 2 Tbsp yellow bell pepper (approx. 1/4 small pepper)
- 2 Tbsp red bell pepper (approx. 1/4 small pepper)
- 5 Tbsp store-bought chili sauce (or adjust to taste)
Shrimp Seasoning- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the fresh shrimp by removing the heads and peeling off the shells, leaving the tail shells on for presentation if desired. Deveining the shrimp will result in a cleaner taste and texture.
Step 2
Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the prepared shrimp. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Marinating the shrimp like this will enhance their flavor.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook until the first side is golden brown and the shrimp are turning pink and opaque. Cook until they are plump and tender.
Step 4
Once the first side of the shrimp is nicely browned, flip them over and cook the other side until it’s also golden brown and cooked through. Ensure both sides are evenly cooked.
Step 5
Dice the onion and bell peppers into bite-sized pieces, about 7mm in size. Cutting them too large might increase cooking time, so aim for uniform pieces.
Step 6
When the shrimp are golden brown on both sides, add the chopped vegetables to the pan. Stir-fry them together with the shrimp for about 3 minutes, or until the vegetables are slightly softened.
Step 7
Now it’s time to add the delicious chili sauce. Add 3 tablespoons of your chosen store-bought chili sauce and stir-fry, tossing everything together to coat the shrimp and vegetables evenly. Make sure the sauce adheres well to all the ingredients.
Step 8
As the sauce begins to simmer and thicken, coating the ingredients with a glossy sheen, add another 2 tablespoons of chili sauce for a richer flavor. Feel free to adjust the amount of sauce according to your preference.
Step 9
With the additional chili sauce, continue to simmer and stir until the sauce bubbles vigorously and reaches your desired consistency. Once it’s thickened, turn off the heat. Your delicious chili shrimp is now ready!
Step 10
Transfer the cooked chili shrimp to a serving plate. This makes for a visually appealing and wonderfully delicious dish. It’s best enjoyed immediately while warm.
Step 11
The finished chili shrimp has been beautifully plated. This creates a wonderful centerpiece for your dinner table! Enjoy your meal.
