Main Ingredients- 250g raw peanuts in shell (about half a mug)
- 600ml water
- 2 Tbsp vinegar
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s clarify the amount of peanuts. If you fill a standard mug halfway, it holds about 50g of peanuts. Therefore, 250g of peanuts is approximately 2.5 mugfuls.
Step 2
Place the 250g of washed raw peanuts in a sieve and rinse them thoroughly under running water. This step removes any dirt or debris from the shells.
Step 3
Add the washed peanuts to the rice cooker. Pour in 600ml of water, and then add 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Adding vinegar and oil helps to keep the peanut shells from separating during cooking and ensures they become tender. It also helps to eliminate any beany smell from the peanuts. Select the ‘Steam’ or ‘Multi-steam’ function on your rice cooker and cook for 20 minutes.
Step 4
Once the 20-minute cooking cycle is complete, carefully remove the tender, cooked peanuts from the rice cooker and drain any excess water.

Now, return the drained peanuts to the rice cooker. Add all the seasoning ingredients: 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of Korean soup soy sauce, 3 tablespoons of corn syrup or honey, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Mix everything well to coat the peanuts evenly. This is the first step to ensuring the flavors penetrate the peanuts. Select the ‘Reheat’ function on your rice cooker and cook for 9 minutes.
Step 6
After the 9-minute reheat cycle, stir the peanuts and the braising sauce in the rice cooker thoroughly once more. This helps the sauce to penetrate deeper into the peanuts. Then, select the ‘Reheat’ function again and cook for an additional 9 minutes. This process further thickens the sauce and infuses the peanuts with a richer flavor.
Step 7
Your delicious braised peanuts are ready! Let them cool slightly before enjoying. If you prefer a thicker sauce and more intense flavor, we recommend stirring and using the ‘Reheat’ function one more time. These are perfect as a side dish for meals or as a healthy snack for children!
