Main Ingredients- 6 pieces Sea Cucumber
- 2 pieces Bamboo Shoots
- 2 cups Sliced Lotus Root
- 3 Shiitake Mushrooms
- 400g Frozen Mixed Seafood
- 300g Frozen Mixed Vegetables
- 5 Wood Ear Mushrooms
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all your ingredients. Julienne or thinly slice the sea cucumber, bamboo shoots, lotus root, shiitake mushrooms, and wood ear mushrooms. If fresh sea cucumber is difficult to julienne, slicing it thinly is perfectly fine. Briefly blanch the frozen mixed seafood and frozen mixed vegetables in boiling water, then drain them well.
Step 2
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onions and stir-fry until fragrant, creating a flavorful green onion oil. This step significantly enhances the dish’s aroma.
Step 3
Once the green onion oil is ready, add the prepared vegetables (bamboo shoots, lotus root, shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, etc.) and stir-fry quickly over high heat to maintain their crispness.
Step 4
When the vegetables are partially cooked, add the sliced sea cucumber and the blanched frozen mixed seafood. Continue to stir-fry everything together until the seafood is cooked through and its flavors meld with the vegetables.
Step 5
Pour in your broth or water. Beef broth will add a richer flavor, but water works perfectly well. Add enough liquid to almost cover the ingredients (about 1/3 of the ingredients’ volume). Stir in the beef bone broth powder and oyster sauce. Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until all ingredients are tender. If the mixture tastes too salty, add a little more water.
Step 6
Once everything is well-cooked, gradually add the cornstarch slurry while stirring constantly until the sauce reaches your desired thickness. Adding the slurry slowly prevents lumps and ensures a smooth consistency. The beef bone broth powder and oyster sauce usually provide enough saltiness, but taste and add a little more oyster sauce if needed. Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in the black pepper and sesame oil, then mix well. Your delicious Yusanseul is ready!
Step 7
Prepare your rice. Fluffy white rice or savory fried rice makes an excellent base for the Yusanseul. Choose your favorite.
Step 8
Generously spoon the prepared Yusanseul over the rice. Behold your delightful Yusanseul bowl, just like from ‘How Do You Play?’! Serve any extra Yusanseul on the side if you desire a larger portion. Enjoy this special and satisfying meal!
