Flavorful Zucchini Rose Dumpling Filling- 80g zucchini, finely julienned
- 30g carrot, finely julienned
- 40g king oyster mushroom, finely julienned
- 250g firm tofu, well-drained and mashed
- 200g ground pork
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 130g rehydrated glass noodles, chopped
- 20 round dumpling wrappers
Seasoning for Rich Flavor- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start by preparing the dumpling filling. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork and the mashed, well-drained tofu. Add the minced garlic (about 1 teaspoon) for an aromatic touch.
Step 2
Prepare the vegetables for the filling to ensure a pleasant texture. Wash the zucchini, carrot, and king oyster mushrooms, then finely julienne them. The thinner the julienne, the smoother the texture of the dumplings.
Step 3
Chop the rehydrated glass noodles into bite-sized pieces. In a lightly oiled pan, briefly stir-fry the julienned zucchini, carrot, and king oyster mushrooms until they are slightly tender but still retain a bit of crispness. Season lightly with salt. Stir-frying helps evaporate excess moisture, preventing a soggy filling.
Step 4
Add the stir-fried vegetables and chopped glass noodles to the bowl with the pork, tofu, and garlic. Now, add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce to enhance the umami flavor. Gently mix everything together with your hands until well combined and the seasonings are evenly distributed.
Step 5
Now, let’s shape the dumplings into beautiful rose forms. Lay three dumpling wrappers slightly overlapping. Gently fold the center part upwards and place a portion of the prepared filling onto it. Roll it up tightly like making a sushi roll, and pinch the end to secure the rose shape. Be mindful of keeping the wrappers moist as you work.
Step 6
Place the meticulously crafted, charming zucchini rose dumplings in a steamer basket. Once the water is boiling and steaming well, place the dumplings in the steamer and cook for about 8-10 minutes, or until the wrappers become translucent and the filling is fully cooked. Freshly steamed dumplings have a beautiful sheen.
Step 7
Finally, let’s complete the zucchini noodles. Lightly salt the julienned zucchini, squeeze out excess water, and then stir-fry it in a pan with a little oil and seasoning until tender. Generously top the cooked noodles with the sautéed zucchini and serve alongside the steamed rose dumplings for a nutritious and delicious zucchini noodle dish. Feel free to add your favorite toppings or a side sauce to enhance the flavor!
