Main Ingredients- 12 fresh Red Snow Crabs
- 2 bowls of warm cooked rice
- 1 Egg
- A pinch of seaweed flakes (Gim garu)
Seasoning & Garnish- Sesame oil (to taste)
- Toasted sesame seeds (to taste)
- Sesame oil (to taste)
- Toasted sesame seeds (to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing the fresh red snow crabs. Separate the carapace from the body and cut them into manageable pieces. (Tip: Using a brush to scrub the shells will ensure they are thoroughly clean.)
Step 2
Place the prepared red snow crabs in a steamer basket over boiling water. Steam for about 10-15 minutes to preserve their fresh flavor and aroma.
Step 3
Once steamed, further prepare the crabs for easy eating. It’s helpful to cut the legs and body into bite-sized portions for extracting the meat. (Tip: Handling the crabs while they are still warm from steaming makes it easier to extract the meat without it breaking apart.)
Step 4
Carefully extract the crab meat from the prepared shells. This will be the key ingredient for adding texture and rich flavor to your fried rice.
Step 5
In a wide pan or wok, add the extracted red snow crab meat and stir-fry lightly. Sauté over medium heat to bring out the natural umami of the crab.
Step 6
Once the crab meat is lightly stir-fried, add 2 bowls of warm cooked rice. Stir and break up the rice with a spatula as you fry, ensuring the rice grains are separate and fluffy.
Step 7
Finally, drizzle in some sesame oil and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds to enhance the nutty aroma. Add seaweed flakes according to your preference. Mix everything well for a delicious red snow crab fried rice!
