Kid-Friendly Banana Bread Pudding Recipe Using Leftover Bread Crusts
This banana bread pudding boasts a perfectly crisp exterior with a wonderfully soft and tender interior. It’s delightfully sweet and fluffy, making it an ideal snack or dessert. Enjoy this delightful treat made with your leftover bread!
Main Ingredients- 5 slices of leftover bread
- 3 small bananas
- 13 walnuts
- 1/3 Tbsp butter
- Honey (to taste)
- Powdered sugar (for garnish, a pinch)
Custard Mixture- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 eggs

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the leftover bread into bite-sized pieces. You can use the crusts as they are, or trim them off if you prefer. Ensure the pieces are not too small.
Step 2
Peel the bananas and slice them into uniform rounds, about 1 to 1.5 cm thick. Handle them gently to avoid mashing.
Step 3
From the 13 walnuts, roughly chop about half (6-7 walnuts) into quarters. Reserve the remaining whole walnuts for garnishing the top of the pudding. Your ingredients are now prepped.
Step 4
In a bowl, crack the 2 eggs. Add 1 cup of milk and 1/3 cup of sugar. Whisk gently until well combined. It’s important to stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Step 5
Grease the inside of an oven-safe baking dish with 1/3 Tbsp of butter. This will prevent the pudding from sticking and add a lovely flavor.
Step 6
Arrange the cut bread pieces, sliced bananas, and the chopped walnuts in the buttered baking dish. Distribute the bread, fruit, and nuts evenly.
Step 7
Pour the custard mixture (prepared in step 3) evenly over the ingredients in the dish. Let it sit for about 3-5 minutes to allow the bread to fully absorb the custard. Gently press down on the ingredients occasionally to ensure they soak up the liquid.
Step 8
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Adjust baking time according to your oven’s specifications. Once baked, drizzle with your desired amount of honey and sprinkle with powdered sugar for a beautiful garnish. Your delicious banana bread pudding is complete!
