  • 1 bowl of warm rice
  • 1 handful of kimchi (finely chopped)
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices of canned ham (sliced about 0.5cm thick)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the rice. In a bowl of warm rice (about 1 standard serving), add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and 3 pinches of salt. Gently mix them together, ensuring each grain of rice is coated with the fragrant sesame oil and savory salt. This step perfectly seasons the base of your rice burger.

Step 2

Next, let’s grill the ham. Slice the 2 pieces of canned ham into approximately 0.5cm thick slices. Lightly grease a pan and grill the sliced ham on both sides until golden brown and slightly crispy. Cooking them over medium-low heat will bring out their savory aroma beautifully.

Step 3

Now, it’s time to stir-fry the kimchi. Place the handful of finely chopped kimchi in the pan. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar. Stir-fry over medium heat until the kimchi softens and the seasonings are well combined. The sugar will balance the tanginess of the kimchi and enhance its savory flavor.

Step 4

It’s time to assemble the rice burger! Line a small bowl or lunchbox container generously with plastic wrap. Spread half of the seasoned rice (about half a bowl’s worth) thinly over the plastic wrap. Layer the stir-fried kimchi, the pan-fried ham, and the slice of cheddar cheese on top. Finally, cover with the remaining rice and use the plastic wrap to gently press and shape it into a burger form. Your delicious rice burger is ready!
