Dumplings and Garnish
- 20 Frozen Boiled Dumplings: Using store-bought frozen dumplings is convenient. Feel free to choose your favorite brand or type.
- 1/3 stalk Green Onion: Prepare about 5cm length and finely chop. It will be used as a garnish to add a refreshing aroma and enhance the dumpling’s flavor.
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil: Adds a nutty aroma and prevents dumplings from sticking together. Drizzle at the end.
Special Sauce Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce: Forms the base of the dumpling sauce, providing saltiness and umami.
- 1 Tbsp Vinegar: Adds a sour note to cut through richness and balance the overall flavors.
- 1 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (or Corn Syrup/Sugar): Provides a subtle sweetness and a glossy finish. If using sugar, oligosaccharide offers a smoother sweetness.
- 4 Tbsp Water: Helps to adjust the sauce’s consistency and ensures all ingredients are well combined.
- 0.5 Tbsp Coarse Red Pepper Flakes (Gochugaru): Adds a spicy kick and a pleasant warmth to the sauce. Adjust the amount or omit if serving to children.

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the Dumplings: Get 20 frozen boiled dumplings ready. There’s no need to thaw them; you can cook them directly from frozen.
Step 2
Chop the Green Onion: Wash the 1/3 stalk of green onion thoroughly. Finely chop both the white and green parts into approximately 0.5cm thick pieces. These will be used as a garnish, so chop them not too thick.
Step 3
Make the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp vinegar, 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide, 4 Tbsp water, and 0.5 Tbsp coarse red pepper flakes. Stir well with a spoon until all ingredients are completely mixed. Taste and adjust the amount of soy sauce, vinegar, or oligosaccharide according to your preference.
Step 4
Boil Water: Pour enough water into a generous-sized pot to fully submerge the dumplings. Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat. While the water is heating, proceed to the next step.
Step 5
Boil the Dumplings: Once the water is boiling, add 1 Tbsp of sesame oil. Then, carefully add the 20 frozen boiled dumplings. Once the water returns to a boil, reduce the heat to medium. Cook for about 3 minutes, or until the dumpling wrappers become translucent and slightly puffed up. Gently stir the dumplings once in between to prevent them from sticking together.
Step 6
Remove Dumplings: Carefully remove the well-cooked dumplings from the boiling water and arrange them attractively in a serving dish. Be careful not to overcook them, as the wrappers might break.
Step 7
Serve: Top the warm dumplings in the dish with the prepared chopped green onions. Pour the special sauce evenly over the dumplings. Your delicious Chinese-style boiled dumplings are now ready to be enjoyed hot!
