Delicious Homemade Aburaage Sushi Rolls with Beef & Egg Crumble
Elevated Inarizushi: Featuring Savory Beef Crumble and Fluffy Egg Crumble
While store-bought inarizushi is convenient, why not try making your own for a delightful homemade twist? This recipe elevates the classic with a savory beef crumble and a light, fluffy egg crumble, making it an even tastier and more visually appealing treat. Perfect for special occasions or a fun lunchbox addition!
Main Ingredients- 1/2 cup ground beef (lean cut recommended)
- 1/3 cup finely diced zucchini
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup finely diced carrot
- 1 bowl of cooked rice (warm)
- 5 pieces of square fried tofu pouches (aburaage for sushi)
Seasoning & Others- 1 tsp salt (divided)
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp sushi vinegar (or seasoned rice vinegar)
- 1 tsp salt (divided)
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp sushi vinegar (or seasoned rice vinegar)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing the crumbles. In one bowl, combine the ground beef and diced zucchini. Season with 1/2 tsp salt and a pinch of pepper, then mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and stir in the finely diced carrot. Add the remaining 1/2 tsp salt and mix thoroughly.
Step 2
Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Add the beef and zucchini mixture. Cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until it becomes crumbly and resembles a dry scramble. Repeat with the egg and carrot mixture in the same pan, cooking and breaking it apart until it forms a fluffy scramble. Set both crumbles aside to cool slightly.
Step 3
To the warm cooked rice, add 1 Tbsp of sushi vinegar. Gently mix the rice with a spatula, being careful not to mash the grains, ensuring the vinegar is evenly distributed for a subtle sweet and tangy flavor. Avoid making the rice too sticky.
Step 4
Carefully open the fried tofu pouches to create a pocket. Fill each pouch with the seasoned rice, but only about two-thirds full. Overfilling will make it difficult to add the crumbles later.
Step 5
Generously spoon the prepared beef crumble over the rice in each inarizushi pouch. Shape it nicely so it covers the rice appealingly.
Step 6
Next, delicately place the egg crumble on top of the beef crumble. The colorful egg crumble adds a beautiful contrast and a soft texture, making your inarizushi even more delightful.
Step 7
Serve your delicious beef and egg crumble inarizushi with some pickled radish (takuan) on the side for a refreshing contrast. These rolls are so flavorful, they’re perfect on their own without needing many side dishes! Enjoy every bite. ^^
