Easy & Healthy Diet Recipe: How to Make Fish Cake and Cabbage Stir-Fry
Today, I’m sharing a special diet menu! This is a ‘Fish Cake Stir-Fry’ recipe that you can easily make using leftover fish cakes and vegetables from your fridge. It’s less heavy than traditional japchae but still offers a rich flavor and texture, making it perfect for using up fish cakes and enjoying a healthy meal.
Ingredients- 1 handful of square fish cakes (approx. 100g)
- 1 handful of colorful bell peppers (red, yellow, etc.)
- 1 handful of cabbage (approx. 100g)
- 0.3 Tbsp olive oil
- 0.3 Tbsp minced garlic
- 0.3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp corn syrup (oligo-dang)
- 0.3 Tbsp oyster sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients for the dish by washing and chopping them. Remove the seeds from the bell peppers and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Shred the cabbage similarly. Lightly rinse the fish cakes under running water, then slice them thinly into strips. Cutting all ingredients to a similar size ensures they cook evenly and look appealing.
Step 2
This recipe is characterized by the generous use of various vegetables to ensure a delicious and satisfying meal even while on a diet. Feel free to add other vegetables you have on hand, such as carrots, mushrooms, or zucchini. As the name ‘Fish Cake Stir-Fry’ suggests, incorporate a good amount of each ingredient to achieve a harmonious blend of textures and flavors.
Step 3
Heat 0.3 Tbsp of olive oil in a pan over low heat. Add 0.3 Tbsp of minced garlic and stir-fry gently until fragrant. Once the garlic aroma begins to waft, add the shredded cabbage and stir-fry over medium heat until it’s slightly tender but still crisp. Then, add the sliced fish cakes and stir-fry together.
Step 4
Once the cabbage and fish cakes are partially cooked, add the colorful bell peppers and stir-fry quickly. Bell peppers can become mushy if overcooked, so add them last and cook only briefly. Finally, add 0.3 Tbsp of soy sauce, 0.5 Tbsp of corn syrup, and 0.3 Tbsp of oyster sauce. Stir-fry briskly to ensure the sauce coats all the ingredients evenly. The oyster sauce adds a wonderful umami depth.
Step 5
Voilà! Your delicious Fish Cake Stir-Fry is ready. Isn’t this recipe wonderfully simple and quick? The crisp cabbage, chewy fish cakes, and the sweetness of the bell peppers create a delightful texture. Thanks to the oyster sauce, this ‘Fish Cake and Cabbage Stir-Fry’ has a rich and deep flavor, highly recommended!
Step 6
This recipe is excellent for using up leftover ingredients and offers a satisfying meal even when you’re dieting. If you find it isn’t filling enough, consider serving it with grilled chicken breast, boiled eggs, or a fresh side salad for a more substantial and balanced meal. For those on a diet, you can also adjust the seasoning to be even milder. Enjoy your healthy meal with this delicious Fish Cake Stir-Fry!
