Transforming Bread Crusts into a Yummy Pizza! The Easiest Bread Pizza Recipe for Kids
Do you have leftover bread crusts from making sandwiches? Don’t just throw them away! This recipe turns them into a delightful pizza, perfect as a nutritious snack for kids or a simple meal replacement. Enjoy the sweetness of sweet potatoes and pumpkin, the pop of corn, and the chewy sausage! It’s a resourceful recipe that uses up leftover ingredients from your fridge without any waste.
Ingredients- 10 bread crusts
- 1 medium sweet potato
- 1/3 piece of kabocha squash (or optional)
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 tablespoon wild mango powder (optional)
- Scrap onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup corn kernels
- 3 Vienna sausages, sliced
- 1/2 to 1 cup shredded pizza cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, slice the medium sweet potato diagonally. If you have leftover kabocha squash from cooking, use that, or prepare a fresh piece and cut it into bite-sized chunks. Bring a pot of water to a boil with a pinch of salt, add the sliced sweet potato and kabocha squash, and cook briefly until tender (about 5-7 minutes). Drain thoroughly and set aside. If you don’t have kabocha squash, you can omit it.
Step 2
Lightly grease an oven-safe round pan or baking sheet with cooking oil. Arrange the 10 bread crusts to cover the bottom of the pan without overlapping. If you don’t have enough crusts, you can also use regular bread slices, cut into appropriate sizes, from your freezer.
Step 3
Spread 1 cup of pizza sauce evenly over the bread crusts. The sauce will soak into the bread, adding a moist and flavorful base.
Step 4
On top of the pizza sauce-covered crusts, arrange the pre-cooked sweet potato and kabocha squash. You can mash them lightly or leave them in chunks for texture. Spread them out evenly.
Step 5
If you have wild mango powder, which is known for its health benefits, sprinkle about 1 tablespoon evenly over the toppings. This adds a unique flavor, but it can be omitted if you don’t have it.
Step 6
Now it’s time to use up those leftover vegetables from your fridge! Thinly slice or chop the onion and slice the Vienna sausages. Sprinkle the corn kernels and the prepared vegetables evenly over the sweet potato and kabocha squash. You can also add bell peppers or black olives if you have them, but it’s fine without. Create your own unique bread pizza using whatever odds and ends you have!
Step 7
Finally, generously sprinkle 1/2 to 1 cup of shredded pizza cheese over the top, according to your preference. The cheese will melt and cover all the ingredients.
Step 8
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly, and the bread crusts are crispy. Adjust the baking time based on your oven’s performance.
Step 9
And there you have it – a ‘scoopable’ bread crust pizza made from leftovers! Instead of making traditional pizza dough, you use bread crusts as the base. Top them generously with sweet potato, pumpkin, fresh vegetables, and chewy sausage, then cover with delicious pizza cheese. You’ll enjoy the amazing texture and taste of gooey, melted cheese. It’s a satisfying snack for kids and a perfect appetizer or light meal for adults. Experience the magic of transforming leftover bread crusts into a delicious and impressive pizza!
