Main Ingredients
  • 1 Ciabatta bread
  • 1 pack Wagyu Pastrami (thinly sliced ham can be substituted)
  • 2 cups fresh leafy greens
  • 1 ball Burrata cheese
  • 2 slices Pineapple
  • A small handful of bean sprouts

Sauces & Seasonings
  • 1/2 Tbsp Whole Grain Mustard
  • 1/2 Tbsp Honey
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 pinch Red Pepper Flakes (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, slice the ciabatta bread in half horizontally. Lightly brush the cut inner sides with olive oil, then toast them in a pan or oven until golden brown. This step ensures a crispy exterior and a tender interior, enhancing the sandwich’s texture and flavor.

Step 2

If you adore burrata cheese, this sandwich is a must-try! Its creamy, luscious texture creates a fantastic harmony with the savory Wagyu pastrami.

Step 3

We’re using high-quality Wagyu pastrami, but if it’s unavailable, thinly sliced deli ham makes a delicious substitute. Prepare your chosen pastrami or ham.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the whole grain mustard and honey to create a sauce that’s both sweet and tangy. This flavorful sauce will elevate the overall taste of your sandwich.

Step 5

We’re using two slices of canned pineapple. Adding pineapple to the sandwich provides a refreshing fruity note that cuts through richness and makes it even more delightful. Any leftover pineapple can be enjoyed as a dessert later.

Step 6

Wash the leafy greens thoroughly and pat them dry. Rinse the bean sprouts briefly under running water, then microwave them for about 1 minute until slightly softened. This keeps them crisp while making them easier to handle in the sandwich. In a bowl, combine the leafy greens and bean sprouts. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and toss gently. Add red pepper flakes if you prefer a hint of spice.

Step 7

Spread the prepared whole grain mustard and honey sauce evenly over the toasted inner surface of the ciabatta bread. This will allow the sauce to meld with the bread, adding depth of flavor.

Step 8

Arrange the Wagyu pastrami generously over the sauced side of the bread. The salty, rich flavor of the pastrami will pair wonderfully with the bread.

Step 9

Now, layer the two pineapple slices on top of the pastrami, followed by the dressed leafy greens and bean sprouts. The vibrant colors and balanced flavors will be a treat for your senses.

Step 10

On the other half of the ciabatta bread, place the halved burrata cheese, cut side down towards the bread. This ensures that when you take a bite, the creamy interior of the cheese will beautifully coat your palate.

Step 11

Carefully place the top half of the ciabatta bread over the filled bottom half to form the sandwich. Gently press down to meld all the ingredients together.

Step 12

Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap to keep it intact and maintain moisture. This makes it perfect for transport and helps the flavors meld. Chilling it for a short while will further enhance the taste.

Step 13

Slice the wrapped sandwich into three portions for easy serving. (Confession: I ate one whole sandwich myself before cutting it! ^^;;) Keep the plastic wrap on until you’re ready to eat. Unwrap each portion just before taking a bite for a clean and delicious experience. Enjoy your delightful ciabatta sandwich on your wonderful outing!
