Main Ingredients- 20 sheets Frozen Fried Tofu Pouches (Inari)
Simmering Seasoning- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Oligosaccharide
- 3.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 200ml Water
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Oligosaccharide
- 3.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 200ml Water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
To remove excess oil and soften the fried tofu pouches, place the frozen pouches in boiling water and simmer for about 1 minute. This step makes the tofu softer and helps it absorb the seasoning better.
Step 2
After blanching, rinse the fried tofu pouches under cold water to cool them down. Gently squeeze out as much water as possible. Ensuring excess water is removed is key for the seasoning to penetrate well.
Step 3
You can use the squeezed tofu pouches as they are, or cut each rectangular pouch in half to create two triangle shapes. This way, 20 pouches will yield 40 pieces, perfect for making inari sushi.
Step 4
Now, let’s prepare the simmering sauce. In a pan, combine 1 Tbsp sugar, 2 Tbsp oligosaccharide, 3.5 Tbsp soy sauce, and 200ml water. Stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
Step 5
Once the seasoning sauce begins to gently bubble, carefully add the squeezed fried tofu pouches into the pan. Ensure the tofu pieces are submerged evenly in the sauce.
Step 6
Reduce the heat to low and let the tofu simmer gently, allowing it to absorb the flavors. Stir carefully with chopsticks to prevent the tofu from breaking. Continue simmering until the tofu is well-seasoned and has a nice, appetizing color. It’s advisable to taste and adjust the simmering time to avoid it becoming too salty.
Step 7
Once the tofu is perfectly simmered, let it cool slightly before transferring it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator and it’s best to use within 2-3 days for the freshest taste. You can use them immediately for inari sushi or incorporate them into other dishes. Enjoy your homemade creation!
