Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Introducing today’s special recipe: ‘Crunchy Bean Sprout Bibim Naengmyeon.’ The chewy noodles and the crispiness of bean sprouts create a truly wonderful combination.
Step 2
Prepare fresh bean sprouts, perhaps picked up at the market. Rinse them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt, then drain them well in a colander.
Step 3
Nongshim’s Nest Bibim Naengmyeon features a special sauce made from fermented Korean pear and red chili pepper, aged for 7 days, and noodles that are dried immediately after being freshly made, giving them a delightful chewy texture. We’ll use this fantastic combination to create a delicious naengmyeon.
Step 4
In a pot, bring 800ml of water to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, add the Nest Naengmyeon noodles and the dried pollock garnish. Reduce the heat to medium-low.
Step 5
As the noodles begin to loosen, add the prepared bean sprouts to the pot. Gently stir with chopsticks and cook for about 3 more minutes. It’s important to cook the bean sprouts just enough so they remain crisp and crunchy, not mushy.
Step 6
Immediately after cooking, rinse the noodles and bean sprouts under cold running water to stop the cooking process and remove excess starch. This step helps the noodles become even more firm and chewy. Drain them thoroughly in a colander after rinsing.
Step 7
Before you start mixing, get a large mixing bowl ready. Using a wide bowl ensures that all the ingredients can be mixed evenly without clumping.
Step 8
Add the drained noodles and bean sprouts to the bowl. Then, add the included seasoned sauce. Feel free to adjust the amount of sauce to your personal preference.
Step 9
Put on disposable gloves and gently mix the noodles and bean sprouts with the sauce using a ‘jemul jemul’ (gentle kneading) motion. Ensure the sauce is evenly distributed. Be careful not to mix too vigorously, as this can break the noodles.
Step 10
Transfer the mixed bean sprout bibim naengmyeon to a serving bowl. Arrange it nicely for an appetizing presentation that will surely whet your appetite.
Step 11
Finely chop the fresh scallions and sprinkle them over the top of the naengmyeon. The fresh aroma of the scallions will enhance the overall flavor.
Step 12
For an even more satisfying meal, top with half a hard-boiled egg. You can place it whole or cut in half, depending on your preference.
Step 13
Finally, sprinkle some sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. Your crunchy bean sprout bibim naengmyeon is now complete!
Step 14
Behold your delicious and crunchy bean sprout bibim naengmyeon! Enjoy this refreshing and flavorful dish.
Step 15
Extra Tip: For a heartier meal, feel free to add a whole hard-boiled egg on top. Thinly sliced cucumber or sprouts can also add a refreshing touch.
