- 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s make the crispy tortilla bowl! 1. Pour enough cooking oil into a deep pan or pot and preheat over medium heat. 2. Place the tortilla in the heated oil. Use a ladle or a small bowl turned upside down to gently press down on the center of the tortilla while frying. This will help the tortilla puff up into a bowl shape as it fries to a crisp. 3. Once golden brown, transfer the fried tortilla to paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 2
Prepare the ingredients for the tteokbokki. 1. Cut the fish cake into bite-sized pieces (approximately 2x3cm). 2. Slice the green onion diagonally into large pieces. 3. Coarsely shred the cabbage.
Step 3
Time to create the delicious tteokbokki sauce base! 1. Pour 2 cups of anchovy-kelp broth into a pot. 2. Add all the seasoning ingredients: 1 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp gochugaru, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and 1 Tbsp sugar. Mix them well. 3. Stir to dissolve the seasonings and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
Step 4
Now, let’s add the ingredients that will give the tteokbokki its flavor and cook them. 1. Once the seasoned broth starts boiling, add the rice cakes and shredded cabbage. 2. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the rice cakes are tender and the cabbage has softened slightly.
Step 5
Add the final ingredients to enhance the tteokbokki’s flavor and simmer. 1. Add the sliced fish cake and green onion. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the rice cakes to become soft and the sauce to thicken and coat the ingredients. 2. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice cakes from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Step 6
Your amazing Tortilla Bowl Tteokbokki is ready! 1. Generously spoon the beautifully cooked tteokbokki into the crispy tortilla bowl you made earlier. 2. Serve immediately while warm to fully enjoy the delightful chewiness of the rice cakes, the satisfying crunch of the tortilla, and the perfect balance of the sweet and spicy tteokbokki sauce. Enjoy your delicious meal!
