Main Ingredients- 4 sheets of pressed tofu (about 180g)
- 1 tsp fine salt
- 2 tsp paprika powder
- 2 Tbsp avocado oil
- 2 Tbsp almond flour (optional, for extra nuttiness)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preheating your oven or air fryer to 160°C (320°F). While it preheats, cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized pieces. Cutting them into triangles will give them a fun nacho-like appearance.
Step 2
Place the cut tofu into a resealable plastic bag. Add 1 tsp of fine salt and 2 tsp of paprika powder. Seal the bag and shake well to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed on the tofu pieces. If you enjoy a bit of spice, you can also add a pinch of black pepper at this stage! Shaking is key to making sure the seasoning gets into all the nooks and crannies. Let’s add the oil after the dry seasonings are mixed.
Step 3
Once the tofu is evenly coated with oil, add the 2 Tbsp of almond flour. Give the bag another good shake to distribute the almond flour. The almond flour is optional, but it adds a wonderful nutty flavor and a slightly crispier texture when baked. It gives a lovely toasty finish!
Step 4
Spread the seasoned tofu pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven at 160°C for 10 minutes. If using an air fryer, make sure to open the basket and stir the tofu pieces occasionally to ensure even cooking and prevent sticking.
Step 5
After 10 minutes, carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven, flip the tofu pieces over, and bake for another 10 minutes. You’ll notice the color has become more pronounced and golden. To achieve maximum crispiness, it’s important to drive out as much moisture from the tofu as possible. Even if it’s a little hot, wear gloves and gently toss the pieces to ensure even heat distribution. Let them cool completely for the crispiest results!
