Essential Ingredients
- 4 Hotteok (Korean sweet pancakes)
- Cream cheese, to taste
- 1 Banana
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- Butter, as needed
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the bananas. Peel the bananas, cut them in half crosswise (about 1 cm thick), and then slice each half lengthwise. This will create pieces suitable for pressing in the waffle maker.
Step 2
Sprinkle the cut sides of the banana pieces evenly with 2 tablespoons of sugar. This coating will help the bananas caramelize beautifully and enhance their sweetness when cooked.
Step 3
Melt a generous amount of butter in a preheated waffle maker set to medium-low heat. Place the hotteok in the center of the waffle maker. Close the lid and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. The hotteok will flatten and become wonderfully chewy inside with a crisp exterior.
Step 4
While the hotteok are cooking, place the sugar-coated banana slices onto the same waffle maker. Gently press them down along with the hotteok. Cook until the bananas soften slightly and develop a delicious caramelized color on their surface. Be careful not to overcook them, as they might become too mushy.
Step 5
Once cooked, arrange the hotteok pancakes on a plate. Generously spread some cream cheese over the hotteok. Finally, top with the warm, caramelized banana slices. Your delicious Hotteok Pancakes, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, are now complete! Enjoy this delightful treat, especially with a cup of strong Americano.
