Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before we start making these no-bake, homemade ‘Fried Oreos’, let me introduce you to the ingredients you’ll need. This recipe is designed to make approximately 20 fried Oreos.
Step 2
Alright, let’s begin making our delicious Fried Oreos without an oven! First, please prepare a mixing bowl for making the batter.
Step 3
Crack two eggs into the prepared mixing bowl. Be careful not to get any shell in the bowl.
Step 4
Using a whisk, beat the two eggs until they are well combined and slightly frothy. It’s important to whisk them thoroughly to avoid any lumps.
Step 5
Once the eggs are well beaten, pour in 100ml of milk. Then, grab your whisk again and vigorously mix the milk and eggs together until they’re smoothly combined (shake, shake!).
Step 6
Next, add 150g of hotcake mix (or pancake mix). For a smoother batter, you can sift it in. Whisk everything together until you achieve a smooth, lump-free batter that will be our delicious coating.
Step 7
Voila! Your batter is ready. It’s smooth and will perfectly coat the Oreos for frying. ^^
Step 8
Now, let’s prepare our stars: the Original Oreos and the Strawberry Flavored Oreos. Frying both flavors will make the dessert experience even more fun!
Step 9
A 100g box of Oreos typically contains about 10 cookies (this can vary slightly by brand). So, a box of each flavor will give you enough Oreos for this recipe. (Cookies per box may vary slightly).
Step 10
Carefully remove the Oreo cookies from their packaging and place them on separate plates. They are now ready to be coated in batter.
Step 11
Place a deep frying pan on your stove (gas or induction). Pour a generous amount of canola oil or your preferred cooking oil into the pan, enough to submerge the Oreos.
Step 12
Now, dip each Oreo cookie into the batter you prepared earlier, ensuring it’s fully coated. Don’t be shy – let them take a good bath in the batter! LOL (This part is quite fun).
Step 13
Coat each Oreo evenly with the batter on all sides. We’ll start by frying the Original Oreos. Aim for a nice, even coating without making it too thick.
Step 14
Once the oil reaches about 160°C (you’ll see small bubbles form when you dip a little batter), carefully add the battered Original Oreos one by one into the hot oil. Make sure they don’t stick together. Fry them, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
Step 15
Oops, the first batch of Oreos turned out a bit darker than expected! The oil might have been slightly too hot. 🙁 But that’s okay! We’ll do the same for the Strawberry Flavored Oreos, coating them and frying until golden and delicious. We’ll pay closer attention to the oil temperature this time.
Step 16
Ta-da! Here are the golden-brown Original and Strawberry Flavored Fried Oreos. ^^ They kind of look like fried slices of sausage, don’t they? The visual might even make you crave some tteokbokki! Hahaha.
Step 17
I was so curious about the inside of these crispy fried Oreos! So, I carefully cut one in half. Wow! You can see how the oil has seeped into the layers of the Oreo cookie, making it wonderfully moist inside. I can’t wait to taste that crispy-outside, gooey-inside texture!
Step 18
Now, for the finishing touch! Sprinkle a generous amount of powdered sugar over the freshly fried Oreos, like a light snowfall. This adds an extra layer of sweetness and makes them look even more appealing.
Step 19
Finally, arrange your beautiful Fried Oreos on a serving plate. You’ve now created a fantastic homemade dessert! They are best enjoyed warm.
