Ingredients- 2 handfuls of bread crusts (approx. 100g)
- 20g melted unsalted butter
- 30ml warm milk
- 20g sugar (for the sauce)
- Pinch of dried parsley (optional)
- Pinch of cinnamon powder
- 20g sugar (for coating)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s make the sauce base. In a small bowl, combine the 20g of melted butter, 30ml of warm milk, and 20g of sugar. Whisk thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved, ensuring a smooth sauce.
Step 2
If you like, you can add a tiny pinch of dried parsley at this stage for an aromatic touch. However, this is optional, so feel free to omit it based on your ingredients or preference.
Step 3
Carefully brush the prepared bread crusts with the butter-milk mixture you just made. Using a pastry brush will help you apply it thinly and evenly.
Step 4
Arrange the bread crusts in your air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Air fry at 180°C (350°F) for about 7-8 minutes. This step will lightly dry out the bread.
Step 5
While the first batch is baking, mix the cinnamon powder into the remaining butter-milk mixture. The sweet cinnamon aroma will greatly enhance the flavor of your rusks.
Step 6
Brush the first-baked bread crusts evenly with the cinnamon-butter mixture. Apply it thoroughly so the cinnamon flavor penetrates well.
Step 7
Return them to the air fryer and bake again at 180°C (350°F) for another 7-8 minutes. They should become golden brown and develop a lovely crispiness.
Step 8
While the rusks are baking, prepare a clean zip-top bag or airtight container by adding the 20g of sugar for coating.
Step 9
Once the rusks are perfectly baked, place them into the bag with the sugar. Gently shake the bag or use a spatula to toss them lightly, ensuring the sugar coats them evenly. Be careful not to toss too vigorously, as they might break.
Step 10
Your crispy and sweet bread rusks, coated in sugar, are now ready! Let them cool slightly before enjoying. They make a fantastic snack for kids or a delightful dessert to pair with your coffee.
