- Cheongyang chili pepper 1
- Green onion, a good amount
- Carrot, a good amount
- Whole garlic cloves 3
Seasoning & Other Ingredients- Salt 3 pinches
- Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
- Pepper, a pinch (dash dash dash)
- Sesame seeds, a sprinkle (sprinkle sprinkle)
- Cooking wine (Mirin) 1 Tbsp
- Canola oil (or cooking oil) sufficient amount
- Salt 3 pinches
- Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
- Pepper, a pinch (dash dash dash)
- Sesame seeds, a sprinkle (sprinkle sprinkle)
- Cooking wine (Mirin) 1 Tbsp
- Canola oil (or cooking oil) sufficient amount
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the vegetables by slicing them into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice the whole garlic cloves, and diagonally slice the Cheongyang chili pepper and green onion. Slice the onion into strips and cut the carrot into manageable pieces.
Step 2
Slice the sundae into thick pieces, about 1.5 to 2 cm thick. Slicing them generously, similar to tteokbokki rice cakes, will give you a great chewy texture.
Step 3
Heat a pan with a generous amount of canola oil. Add the sliced sundae and fry it on both sides until it’s golden brown and crispy. Frying the sundae until it’s very crispy beforehand will result in an even chewier and more delicious texture when stir-fried.
Step 4
Once the sundae is sufficiently fried, add the prepared onion, carrot, and sliced garlic to the pan and stir-fry them together. Then, add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic, 1 Tbsp of cooking wine, a dash of pepper, and about 3 pinches of salt to season.
Step 5
Stir-fry quickly over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes, just until the vegetables soften slightly and all the ingredients are well combined.
Step 6
Finally, add the diagonally sliced green onion and Cheongyang chili pepper, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Step 7
Stir-fry for another 30 seconds or so to ensure all ingredients are well mixed. Then, transfer the finished sundae stir-fry to a serving plate. It’s best enjoyed immediately while it’s hot!
