Crispy Skin, Soft Inside Roasted Sweet Potatoes: Steamer & Air Fryer Method
Enjoy Autumn’s Sweet Potatoes to the Fullest Using a Steamer and Air Fryer!
Introducing a method to enjoy sweet potatoes, purchased in bulk during the abundant autumn season, by steaming them and then roasting them in an air fryer. Experience the true delight of perfectly cooked sweet potatoes!
Ingredients- Chestnut sweet potatoes (choose large and firm ones)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the chestnut sweet potatoes thoroughly under running water. Make sure to remove any dirt or dust from the skin and pat them dry. Larger sweet potatoes tend to be more flavorful and satisfying.
Step 2
Prepare your cooking vessels. The photo shows a steamer basket that fits on a pot (left) and an air fryer basket (right). Choose the method that best suits your kitchen setup.
Step 3
Now, let’s arrange the sweet potatoes. Place 4 medium-sized sweet potatoes in the steamer and 3 larger ones in the air fryer basket. We’ll steam them together to cook. You can adjust the quantity as needed.
Step 4
To steam the sweet potatoes until tender, bring water to a boil, then simmer over medium heat for about 30 minutes. They are done when a skewer or chopstick pierces through easily with a slight ‘swoosh’. Adjust the steaming time for larger sweet potatoes. For air frying, preheat to 180°C (350°F), then roast for 20 minutes, flip, and roast for another 15 minutes.
Step 5
Voila! The left shows sweet potatoes steamed in a pot, and the right shows those roasted in an air fryer. The hot air circulating in the air fryer removes moisture, causing the skin to naturally wrinkle like this. This process intensifies their sweetness. The steamed sweet potatoes are chewy and soft.
Step 6
Sweet potatoes are not only delicious but also excellent for health and dieting! Enjoy them steamed or roasted. Make the most of this autumn delicacy and eat plenty of sweet potatoes. Enjoy your meal and stay healthy!
