Crispy & Moist! Air Fryer Gim-mari Made with Leftover Japchae
Transform Leftover Japchae into Delicious Air Fryer Gim-mari!
Wondering what to do with leftover japchae? Let’s make easy and tasty gim-mari using it, cooked to crispy perfection in the air fryer.
Ingredients- 5 sheets of Gim (roasted seaweed)
- 1 cup tempura flour
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- Leftover Japchae (sufficient amount)
- A little water (for sealing the gim)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s transform leftover japchae from the fridge into a delightful snack! We’ll be making crispy outside, moist inside gim-mari conveniently in the air fryer. It’s perfect for a late-night snack or even when you have guests over!
Step 2
First, lay out one sheet of gim flat. Place a generous amount of leftover japchae onto the gim. To ensure the gim sticks well and holds its shape, lightly moisten the edge of the gim with water. Then, roll it up tightly, encasing the japchae inside.
Step 3
Lightly wetting the edge of the gim is the key to preventing it from unraveling. Apply water meticulously to the edge and roll it up so the gim adheres firmly. This step is crucial for maintaining the shape during frying or cooking in the air fryer.
Step 4
Once rolled, cut the gim-mari into bite-sized pieces. Cutting them into three sections makes them a perfect size for dipping and enjoying after air frying. They’re also a great, manageable size for children’s snacks.
Step 5
Now it’s time to coat the gim-mari with a delicious batter. In a bowl, combine 1 cup of tempura flour, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, and gradually add water while mixing well to create the batter. Adding a little cooking oil to the batter will result in an even crispier coating when fried. Dip each cut piece of gim-mari evenly into the prepared batter.
Step 6
Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper and arrange the battered gim-mari in a single layer. Spray a little cooking oil over the top of the gim-mari; this will help achieve an extra crispy texture. Now, cook in the air fryer at 185°C (365°F) for 13 minutes. Flipping them halfway through will ensure even cooking.
Step 7
And there you have it! Delicious air fryer gim-mari, golden and crispy on the outside, with warm, flavorful japchae filling inside. It tastes best when served immediately while warm, so enjoy this delightful treat anytime, not just on special occasions!
