Crispy Homemade Chicken Cutlets
Making Delicious Chicken Cutlets at Home with Chicken Breast
Make crispy and tender chicken cutlets at home that the whole family will love! This recipe uses chicken breast for a healthier and more delicious homemade meal.
Main Ingredients- 2 chicken breasts (approx. 400g)
- 1 egg
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (approx. 100g)
- 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the chicken breasts and thinly slice them horizontally into two cutlets each. Use the flat side of a knife or a meat mallet to gently pound the chicken cutlets to an even thickness. Season both sides with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Step 2
Lightly dredge the seasoned chicken cutlets in flour, ensuring an even coating on both sides. The flour layer helps the egg wash adhere better.
Step 3
In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg until well beaten. In a separate plate or shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.
Step 4
Dip each floured chicken cutlet into the beaten egg, making sure it’s fully coated on all sides.
Step 5
Transfer the egg-coated chicken cutlet to the plate of panko breadcrumbs. Press down firmly with your hands to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well and cover all gaps, creating a thick, even crust.
Step 6
Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot over medium-high heat to about 170°C (340°F). (You can test the oil temperature by dropping a few breadcrumbs; they should sizzle and float). Carefully place the breaded chicken cutlets into the hot oil and fry for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan, as this can lower the oil temperature and result in soggy cutlets. Fry in batches if necessary.
