How to Make Delicious Pan-Fried Shredded Potatoes with Ham and Egg
A simple and savory potato pancake recipe that’s perfect for home cooking. This dish offers a crispy exterior and a tender interior, making it an excellent snack for kids or a great accompaniment to drinks. Using bacon instead of ham can further enhance its delicious flavor.
Main Ingredients- 1 medium potato
- 1 egg
- 2 slices of ham
- 1/2 Tbsp potato starch
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel the potato using a peeler, rinse it, and then thinly julienne it. Place the julienned potatoes in a bowl.

Next, thinly julienne the ham slices, similar in thickness to the potatoes, and add them to the bowl. (You can substitute with bacon for a richer flavor if you prefer.)

Add 1/2 Tbsp of potato starch, a pinch of black pepper, (optionally a pinch of seasoned salt), and a pinch of parsley flakes to the bowl with the julienned potatoes and ham. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined, ensuring the potato starch evenly coats the ingredients.

Preheat a pan and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Spread the potato mixture thinly in the heated pan, then crack an egg into the center.
Step 5
Gently break the egg yolk with a fork. This helps it cook evenly without spilling over the pancake.
Step 6
Cook over medium heat until the bottom of the pancake is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip it over and continue to cook until the other side is also golden brown and nicely cooked. Your delicious ham and egg potato pancake is now complete! Serve immediately while warm for the best taste.
