  • 1 cup water (approx. 180ml)

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

First, prepare and measure all the ingredients needed for the recipe. Use the frozen dumplings as they are.

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the frozen dumplings and fry until golden brown and crispy. While the dumplings are cooking, combine the gochujang, ketchup, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and minced garlic in a bowl to make the gangjeong sauce. Set aside.

Once the dumplings are nicely browned, move them to one side of the pan. Carefully wipe away excess oil from the pan with a paper towel. This helps prevent the sauce from burning and results in a cleaner finish.

Reduce the heat to low. Pour the prepared gangjeong sauce into the pan. Add 1 cup of water (about 80% full, as measured by a soju cup) to the pan. Once the sauce starts to simmer gently, add the fried dumplings back. Stir and toss the dumplings in the sauce over low heat until they are evenly coated. Continue to cook until the sauce thickens and clings to the dumplings.
