Ingredients- 2 slices of 3-layer cheese
- 4 slices of processed ham
- 1 medium potato
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 100g breadcrumbs
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the 3-layer cheese. Cut each slice into 3 equal pieces, resulting in a total of 9 small cheese cubes.
Step 2
Next, prepare the processed ham. Cut each slice into pieces roughly the same size as the cheese cubes, yielding 9 ham pieces. Having your ingredients prepped makes the cooking process much smoother.
Step 3
This cheese cube fry is excellent for making in larger batches. Once prepared, you can easily reheat them in an air fryer or on a pan whenever you crave a delicious, crispy snack or side dish. They are incredibly convenient!
Step 4
Now, let’s layer the ham and cheese. Place a slice of ham, followed by a piece of cheese, and then another slice of ham, creating a sandwich-like stack. To prevent the cheese from oozing out during frying, it’s important to follow the next steps carefully.
Step 5
Peel the potato thoroughly and grate it finely using a grater. Place the grated potato in a sieve to drain as much liquid as possible. To the drained potato pulp, add 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour. Season lightly with 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, then mix well to form a cohesive batter.
Step 6
Carefully wrap each stacked ham and cheese piece with the prepared potato batter. Ensure the batter completely encases the ham and cheese to prevent the layers from separating during frying.
Step 7
Now, coat the potato-battered cheese cubes evenly with breadcrumbs. A thorough coating of breadcrumbs is key to achieving a wonderfully crispy and appealing golden-brown crust after frying.
Step 8
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (356°F). Place the breadcrumb-coated cheese cubes inside and fry for approximately 15 minutes. Flipping them halfway through will ensure they become evenly golden and crispy on all sides. (If using a deep fryer, fry at 170°C/338°F for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.)
Step 9
Arrange the perfectly fried cheese cubes on a serving plate. For an extra touch of color and flavor, sprinkle with dried parsley if desired. Enjoy immediately while warm for the best melted cheese experience!
