Introducing a recipe for a refreshingly crisp fresh cabbage salad, made by tossing thinly sliced raw cabbage with a flavorful seasoning, and a hearty fresh cabbage bibimbap. It’s a perfect, delicious meal for when you’re not feeling hungry, simply mixed with a spoonful of rice!
Main Ingredients- 1/3 head of cabbage
- 1/3 stalk of green onion
- 1/2 sheet of roasted seaweed (gim)
- 1 egg
- 1 bowl of warm rice
Seasoning Ingredients- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 5 Tbsp chili powder (gochugaru)
- 2 Tbsp plum syrup (maesilcheong)
- 1 Tbsp shrimp paste brine
- 4 Tbsp anchovy sauce (myeolchi aekjeot)
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce (for bibimbap)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil (for bibimbap)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 5 Tbsp chili powder (gochugaru)
- 2 Tbsp plum syrup (maesilcheong)
- 1 Tbsp shrimp paste brine
- 4 Tbsp anchovy sauce (myeolchi aekjeot)
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce (for bibimbap)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil (for bibimbap)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the fresh cabbage. Remove the outer leaves and cut the cabbage into bite-sized pieces. If they are too large, the seasoning won’t penetrate well, so cutting them into bite-sized pieces is recommended.
Step 2
If the outer leaves of the cabbage are wilted, rinse them thoroughly under running water to make them moist. If the leaves are long, cut them once or twice so the seasoning can coat them evenly. Thinly julienne the green onion.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 5 Tbsp chili powder, 2 Tbsp plum syrup, 1 Tbsp shrimp paste brine, 4 Tbsp anchovy sauce, and a pinch of sesame seeds. Mix well to create a delicious seasoning sauce.
Step 4
At this point, you can adjust the amount of chili powder and anchovy sauce to your preference for an even more delicious result. Modify according to how spicy or salty you like it.
Step 5
Add the prepared seasoning to the cabbage and green onions and toss gently to coat evenly. Gently mix to preserve the cabbage’s crisp texture. Your delicious and fresh cabbage salad is complete!

Now, let’s make the fresh cabbage bibimbap. Prepare one bowl of warm rice. Drizzle 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce and 1 Tbsp sesame oil over the rice. You can adjust the soy sauce amount to your taste.
