Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 Tbsp butter (approx. 15g)
  • 1 Tbsp mayonnaise (approx. 15g)
  • 1 tsp sugar (approx. 5g)
  • 1 fresh egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt (approx. 2.5g)
  • A pinch of dried parsley (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Start by preparing one slice of bread. Using a glass or a round cookie cutter, carefully cut out a circle from the center of the bread. This creates a well for the egg, preventing it from spreading out and ensuring it cooks nicely within the toast.

Step 1

Step 2

Melt 1 Tbsp of butter in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Once the butter is melted and shimmering, place both slices of bread (the one with the hole and the intact one) into the pan. Toast them until they are golden brown and slightly crisp on both sides. This will enhance the texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Take the intact slice of toasted bread and generously spread 1 Tbsp of mayonnaise on one side. Make sure to cover the surface evenly for maximum flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Sprinkle 1 tsp of sugar evenly over the mayonnaise-coated side of the bread. The sweetness will complement the richness of the egg and mayonnaise beautifully.

Step 4

Step 5

Carefully place the bread with the hole on top of the mayonnaise and sugar-coated bread. Then, gently crack 1 fresh egg into the center hole. Try not to break the yolk as you carefully place it in.

Step 5

Step 6

Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of salt over the egg to season it. You can adjust the amount of salt to your preference. If you like, sprinkle a pinch of dried parsley over the egg for an extra touch of flavor and visual appeal. This step is optional.

Step 6

Step 7

Cover the toast with a microwave-safe lid or microwave-safe plate. Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Cooking times can vary depending on your microwave’s wattage. Start with 1 minute 30 seconds. At 2 minutes, the egg will be fully cooked and firm. At 1 minute 30 seconds, the yolk will remain slightly runny, similar to the picture. Adjust the time based on your desired egg doneness and enjoy your delicious creation!
