Crispy & Chewy! Fried Mandu Rolls with Somen Noodles (Air Fryer Recipe)
Super Easy Air Fryer Snack: Mandu Rolls with Somen Noodles!
These Mandu (Korean dumpling) rolls wrapped in somen noodles are air-fried to crispy perfection. They are incredibly simple to make and make a fantastic snack for kids, a delightful late-night treat, or a perfect accompaniment to your favorite drinks. The vibrant colors from the noodles add an extra touch of fun!
Ingredients- 20 frozen mandu (dumplings)
- A small amount of yellow somen noodles
- A small amount of red somen noodles
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the somen noodles in two colors. Boil the yellow and red somen noodles separately in boiling water. Cook the noodles until they are slightly firm (‘al dente’) rather than mushy – this is key for the best texture. Once cooked, rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking and drain them thoroughly.
Step 2
Take a few strands of the cooked somen noodles and place them on top of a frozen mandu. Carefully wrap the noodles around the mandu, rolling them tightly to secure. Ensure the noodles are wrapped firmly so they don’t unravel during cooking. This step is crucial for holding the shape.
Step 3
Arrange the noodle-wrapped mandu rolls in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they don’t touch each other. This allows for even cooking and crisping all around.
Step 4
Cook using your air fryer. While you can use a combination of steam and air fry functions, if using only the air fry function, set the temperature to 190°C (375°F) and cook for about 15 minutes. Flipping them halfway through will help ensure they get crispy on all sides. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on your air fryer model.
Step 5
Your crispy on the outside, chewy and tender on the inside Mandu Rolls with Somen Noodles are ready! They are wonderfully delicious with a satisfying contrast in textures. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce – a mix of mustard and mayonnaise, or soy sauce with wasabi, are great options. Enjoy this delightful snack or appetizer!
