My current joy in life is discovering new and exciting ways to enjoy toast! Beyond just spreading jam, the way you prepare it and the ingredients you use can completely transform its taste and appearance. For this delightful toast creation, I’ve incorporated strawberry jam, cheese, and crispy bacon. This recipe yields 4 servings; if you plan to make more than 8 pieces, you might want to increase the number of eggs. It’s a perfect treat that’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside!
Ingredients- 2 slices of bread
- 4 strips of bacon
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp strawberry jam
- 1 slice of cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
If you’re planning to make more than 8 pieces of toast, it’s a good idea to use about 3 eggs. Crack 2 eggs into a bowl, add 1/3 teaspoon of salt, and whisk them together until lightly frothy. I’ll guide you through making approximately 4 toast pieces.
Step 2
Spread a thin, even layer of strawberry jam on one side of a slice of bread. Then, place a slice of cheese on top of the jam. The melting cheese will help bind the ingredients together.
Step 3
Take another slice of bread and place it on top, with the plain side facing upwards. Using a bread knife or a regular knife, carefully cut the sandwich into 4 equal pieces. Be gentle to avoid crushing the bread.
Step 4
Wrap one strip of bacon around the edges of each cut bread piece. Once the bacon is secured, dip each piece into the whisked egg mixture, ensuring all four sides are evenly coated with the egg batter. Make sure the bacon is snugly wrapped so it doesn’t unravel.
Step 5
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the egg-coated toast pieces into the hot oil. Cook them, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crispy. Be mindful of splattering oil and adjust the heat to prevent the bacon from burning. The egg coating will help keep the bacon in place.
