- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
Seasoning Ingredients- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin or rice wine)
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 pinches salt
- 2 pinches black pepper
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin or rice wine)
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 pinches salt
- 2 pinches black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 2 handfuls of bean sprouts, the main ingredient. Bean sprouts shrink significantly when stir-fried, so it’s good to prepare them generously. They are rich in dietary fiber and are good for gut health, so you can enjoy them without worry.
Step 2
Cut 3 strips of bacon into bite-sized pieces. The bacon will add a delicious savory flavor.
Step 3
Now, let’s prepare the vegetables. You’ll need 1/2 bell pepper, 1/2 onion, 2 shiitake mushrooms, and a 5cm piece of carrot. Slice them into strips with a moderate thickness so their texture remains pleasantly crisp.
Step 4
Time to make the flavorful sauce! In a bowl, combine 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 2 Tbsp cooking wine, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Mix them well. Pre-mixing the sauce makes the cooking process much smoother.
Step 5
To enhance the aroma of the stir-fry, let’s start by sautéing the aromatic ingredients. Heat a little oil in a pan, add 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic and the prepared onion. Stir-fry over medium-low heat until the onion becomes translucent, releasing its fragrance.
Step 6
Once the onion starts to turn translucent, add the carrot, bell pepper, and shiitake mushrooms. Since the vegetables haven’t been seasoned yet, add 2 pinches of salt and 2 pinches of pepper at this stage to lightly season them. This will make the stir-fry even more delicious.
Step 7
When the vegetables are partially cooked, add the prepared bean sprouts. Stir-fry quickly over high heat, just until the bean sprouts are slightly wilted. The key is to maintain their crisp texture.
Step 8
Once the bean sprouts have slightly softened, add the cut bacon and continue to stir-fry. The fat rendered from the bacon will mingle with the vegetables, adding a wonderful savory richness.
Step 9
Now, pour the pre-made sauce into the pan and mix well. Start by stir-frying over medium-low heat to let the ingredients combine, then increase the heat to high for the final moments. This will cook the sauce quickly without burning, evaporating excess moisture and resulting in a perfectly seasoned stir-fry.
Step 10
Your Bacon and Bean Sprout Stir-fry is ready, featuring the crispness of bean sprouts, the savory flavor of bacon, and a colorful medley of vegetables! With its mild and balanced seasoning, it’s a dish that even children can enjoy. It’s also perfect as a simple alcoholic beverage accompaniment or a satisfying side dish for rice. Since it doesn’t require any special ingredients, you can easily make it often. Enjoy!
