- 6 strips of bacon
- A pinch of salt (for blanching)
- 1 tbsp butter (for blanching)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (to taste, for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your fresh asparagus and have a vegetable peeler ready for use.
Step 2
Wash the asparagus thoroughly under running water. For thicker stalks, use a peeler to lightly shave off the tough outer skin from the lower part. This will make the asparagus even more tender to eat, much like peeling a potato.

Trim off about 1-2 cm from the tough bottom end of each asparagus stalk. You don’t want to cut too much and waste it!

To slightly soften the crisp texture and enhance the flavor, we’ll give the asparagus a quick blanch. Fill a pot with plenty of water, bring it to a boil, then add 0.5 tsp of salt and 1 tbsp of butter. The butter will melt, imparting a subtle richness to the water.

Add the prepared asparagus to the boiling water and blanch for just about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Be careful not to overcook it, or it will become too soft! Immediately remove the asparagus and rinse it under cold water to stop the cooking process and drain well.
Step 6
Place a blanched asparagus stalk on a strip of bacon and wrap the bacon around it, rolling it up tightly to form a neat roll. Ensure the bacon is wrapped snugly so the asparagus doesn’t come loose.

For a more visually appealing presentation, wrap the bacon diagonally around the asparagus. Tuck the end of the bacon securely to prevent it from unraveling.

Now it’s time to cook the asparagus bacon rolls. Heat a pan over medium heat and place the rolls in it. Cook, turning them frequently, until all sides are golden brown and the bacon is crispy. You don’t need to add extra oil, as the bacon will render its own fat. (Alternatively, you can bake them in an air fryer or oven at 180°C/350°F for 10-12 minutes.)

Keep an eye on the heat to prevent the bacon from burning. Continue to turn the rolls gently, ensuring they cook evenly and develop a beautiful, appetizing color. The savory bacon fat will infuse into the asparagus, creating a wonderful flavor combination.
