Ingredients for German-Style Potato Pancakes

  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1 can (115g) canned ham
  • 2 slices sandwich ham
  • 3 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp potato starch
  • A pinch of whole peppercorns
  • Generous amount of cooking oil

Peel the potatoes, wash them thoroughly, and boil them for at least 10 minutes until they are soft and tender. You’ll know they’re ready when a fork easily pierces through them.

Place the 115g can of ham into a sealable plastic bag. Use your hands to mash the ham into small pieces. Ensure it’s evenly mashed without large chunks.

Thinly slice the sandwich ham. Slicing them thinly will help them blend well with the potato mixture.

While the boiled potatoes are still warm, mash them finely using a fork or a potato masher until smooth. Add the mashed canned ham and the sliced sandwich ham to the bowl with the mashed potatoes and mix them together.
