Easy Recipe for Black Sesame Lotus Root Salad with Homemade Black Sesame Dressing
Most people enjoy lotus root in braised dishes or pancakes. Today, I’m introducing an incredibly simple lotus root salad recipe. We all know root vegetables are good for our health, right? Making this simple salad frequently will be a wonderful addition to your healthy diet. Give it a try!
Main Ingredients- 200g Lotus root
Black Sesame Dressing- 3 Tbsp Black sesame seeds
- 3 Tbsp Olive oil
- 1 Tbsp Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp Fermented rice soy sauce (or regular soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp Oligosaccharide
- 3 Tbsp Black sesame seeds
- 3 Tbsp Olive oil
- 1 Tbsp Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp Fermented rice soy sauce (or regular soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp Oligosaccharide
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Thoroughly wash the 200g of lotus root, peel it, and then slice it into approximately 3mm thick rounds.
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the sliced lotus root and blanch for about 1 minute. Immediately after blanching, transfer the lotus root to a bowl of cold water to cool it down rapidly. This step is crucial for achieving a delightfully crispy texture in your salad.
Step 3
Let’s make the wonderfully nutty black sesame dressing! The recipe uses fermented rice soy sauce, but you can substitute it with regular soy sauce if that’s what you have. If you prefer a tangier and sweeter taste, feel free to add a little more sugar and vinegar to your preference. Simply combine all the dressing ingredients in a bowl and whisk until well blended. That’s it for the dressing!
Step 4
While blending all the ingredients in a food processor creates a very smooth dressing, simply mixing them by hand also yields delicious results. This method allows you to experience the delightful texture of the lotus root along with the satisfying ‘pop’ of the black sesame seeds with every bite, offering a rich, nutty flavor.
Step 5
Combine the cooled, blanched lotus root with the prepared black sesame dressing in a mixing bowl. Gently toss to ensure the lotus root is evenly coated. Then, cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled for the best taste.
