The Secret to Perfectly Stir-Fried Zucchini for Bibimbap – Maintaining a Crisp Texture
Hello everyone! Today, I’m excited to share a simple yet incredibly delicious stir-fried zucchini recipe that makes a perfect companion for bibimbap. The key to this dish is lightly stir-frying the zucchini with just garlic and salt to bring out its natural sweetness and a delightful crispness, without needing any complex seasonings. Once lightly stir-fried and cooled, you can store it in the refrigerator, and it becomes a fantastic addition when you mix it with rice and a fried egg. It’s also a wonderful, subtly seasoned side dish for children. Let’s make this easy and quick stir-fried zucchini together!
Main Ingredients- 1 medium zucchini
- 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic
- 0.5 Tbsp salt
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the zucchini thoroughly. Slice it diagonally about 0.5 cm thick, and then cut it into bite-sized strips.
Step 2
If you slice the zucchini too thinly, it can become mushy and break apart during stir-frying. Cutting it slightly thicker will help maintain its crisp texture after cooking.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add 1 Tbsp of cooking oil. Add 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic and 0.5 Tbsp of salt. Stir-fry quickly over high heat, being careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 4
Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the zucchini is slightly translucent and still has a crisp bite. Turn off the heat and drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for a nutty aroma. Your delicious stir-fried zucchini is ready!
Step 5
The most important tip for great stir-fried zucchini is to cook it ‘quickly’! Overcooking will release moisture, making it soggy and less flavorful. Stir-frying over high heat for a short time ensures the zucchini retains its vibrant color and excellent crisp texture. Remember this crucial step!
