- 1 Tbsp soy sauce for soup (Guk-ganjang)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp coarse sea salt
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- Sesame seeds, to taste (adjust as preferred)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, pour about 1 liter of water into a pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once the water is vigorously boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt. Adding salt at this stage helps to maintain the crispness of the bean sprouts.
Step 2
Carefully add the thoroughly washed bean sprouts to the boiling water. Gently press them down to ensure they are submerged. Boil over high heat for approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds to 3 minutes only. Be careful not to overcook, as they will become mushy. Aim for a vibrant green color.
Step 3
Once boiled, immediately drain the bean sprouts in a colander. Rinse them quickly under cold running water to cool them down. This step is crucial for preserving their crisp texture. After rinsing, gently squeeze out as much water as possible using both hands. Excess water can dilute the seasoning. Place the drained bean sprouts in a large mixing bowl.
Step 4
To the bowl with the bean sprouts, add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce for soup, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of coarse sea salt, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Finally, sprinkle in sesame seeds to your liking. Gently mix everything together with your hands to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed. Avoid squeezing too hard, as this can crush the sprouts. Taste and add a little more salt if needed.
