I’m gaining a little weight… but there’s nothing I want to eat! So, I decided to make my absolute favorite bean sprout rice^^ The refreshing and crunchy texture of the bean sprouts mixed with the savory and flavorful seasoning will surely awaken your appetite. Let’s make this simple yet satisfying bean sprout rice together!

Bean Sprout Rice Ingredients

  • 1 handful of bean sprouts
  • Rice for 2 servings
  • Water (slightly less than usual)

Cooking Instructions

First, wash the bean sprouts, the star of our bean sprout rice, thoroughly and prepare them. Measure the rice as usual and place it in the rice cooker. Adjust the water level accordingly. Since bean sprouts release moisture, it’s best to use about 0.5 cm less water than you normally would. Now, arrange the washed bean sprouts attractively over the rice. Using a pressure cooker will result in even chewier and more delicious rice.

Now, let’s make the delicious seasoning sauce that will bring our bean sprout rice to life. In a bowl, combine 8 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sweet plum extract, 1 tablespoon of nutty sesame oil, 0.5 tablespoon of fragrant minced garlic, and 1.5 tablespoons of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat. Finally, add 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds and stir everything together until well combined. Your flavorful seasoning sauce is ready! For an extra kick, you can also add finely chopped chili peppers or green onions.

Transfer the perfectly cooked bean sprout rice to a bowl. Top the rice with the warm bean sprouts and serve with the prepared seasoning sauce on the side.
