Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Let’s first take a moment to appreciate the charm of radishes. When you cut a radish in half, you’ll see the white flesh inside the red skin, just like a regular radish. However, they are much more tender and softer than common radishes, making them excellent for salads without peeling. They offer a delightful crispness and a subtle peppery flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, let’s prepare the fresh ingredients for our salad. You’ll need 6 radishes, 1/2 apple, 1/2 persimmon, 1/2 cucumber, and 3 tablespoons of raisins for a burst of texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Wash the radishes and cucumber thoroughly, then dice them into bite-sized cubes. Place them in a bowl and add the pickling ingredients: 3 tablespoons of vinegar, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1/2 tablespoon of salt. Gently toss to combine, then let them marinate for about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally with a spoon to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.

Step 3

Step 4

Dice the persimmon and apple into cubes similar in size to the radishes and cucumber. Try to keep the size consistent; cutting them too small might reduce the enjoyable crunch.

Step 4

Step 5

Drain the radishes and cucumber that have been marinating in vinegar using a sieve. Gently pat them dry with a kitchen towel to remove any excess moisture. This step is crucial to prevent the salad from becoming watery.

Step 5

Step 6

Now it’s time to make the delicious dressing. In a large bowl, combine the drained radishes and cucumber, the diced apple and persimmon, and the raisins. Add the dressing ingredients: 3.5 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Gently mix everything together until all the ingredients are evenly coated with the dressing. Be careful not to overmix, as it can make the ingredients mushy.

Step 6

Step 7

Your vibrant ‘Radish and Fruit Salad’ is ready! It’s perfectly sweet and tangy with a delightful crispness. Look at those beautiful colors!

Step 7

Step 8

The subtle peppery notes of the radish become beautifully mellowed after pickling, and the crisp texture of the fruits and vegetables is truly delightful. This salad is wonderfully fresh and light, making it a perfect side dish for any special occasion or a delightful treat on its own.
