Savory Fish Cake Miso Soup Ingredients- 850ml water (approx. 4.5 cups)
- 1/3 Tbsp miso paste
- 1/3 Tbsp minced garlic
- Ramen vegetable packet (optional, according to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all your ingredients. Rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly and set aside. Thinly slice the rectangular fish cake. Chop the green onion.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine 2 Tbsp gochujang, 2 Tbsp sugar, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp gochugaru, and 1/3 cup water. Mix well until you achieve a thick and glossy sauce. This sauce is key to the ramen’s delicious flavor!
Step 3
In a pot, bring 850ml of water and the ramen vegetable packet to a boil. Once boiling, add the rinsed bean sprouts and the ramen noodles. Gently loosen the noodles to prevent sticking and boil for about 2 more minutes. Be careful not to overcook the bean sprouts, as they can lose their crispiness.
Step 4
When the noodles are cooked, drain the solids (noodles and bean sprouts) using a sieve. Reserve about 1 cup (approx. 200ml) of the noodle cooking water. Briefly rinse the drained solids under cold water to cool them down, then thoroughly drain any excess water. Pour the reserved noodle water back into the pot. Add half of the ramen soup packet and 1/3 Tbsp miso paste, then stir to dissolve and bring to a simmer. This forms the base for your delicious fish cake miso soup.
Step 5
Once the soup base is simmering, add the sliced fish cake and chopped green onion, along with 1/3 Tbsp minced garlic. Simmer for a bit longer until the savory flavors from the fish cake and green onion infuse into the broth. Your comforting fish cake miso soup is ready! Now, let’s mix the ramen. In a separate bowl with the drained noodles and bean sprouts, add the remaining half of the ramen soup packet and 5 Tbsp of the prepared bibim ramen sauce. Drizzle in a little sesame oil. It’s best to taste as you go rather than adding all 5 Tbsp of sauce at once, adjusting to your preference. Mix everything thoroughly.
Step 6
Serve the spicy and sweet Bean Sprout Bibim Ramen in a bowl, accompanied by a warm bowl of the savory Fish Cake Miso Soup. The mild miso soup perfectly complements the spiciness of the ramen, creating a fantastic combination! It’s the perfect meal to cut through any richness from holiday feasts.
