I recently bought some apples that were so sweet and delicious! So, I decided to make a sandwich featuring them. The creaminess of the eggs pairs wonderfully with the sweetness of the apple. Adding apple eliminates the need for extra sugar, providing a perfectly balanced sweetness. The soft texture of the egg and the crisp bite of the apple create a delightful contrast.

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread

Cooking Instructions

First, add a suitable amount of water to a pot and bring it to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling vigorously, carefully add the eggs. Also, add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of vinegar to the water. The vinegar helps make the eggshells easier to peel later. Cook the eggs over medium heat for 12 minutes until they are hard-boiled.

Once the eggs are cooked, immediately transfer them to a bowl of cold water and let them sit for a short while to cool down. This makes peeling the eggshells much easier and cleaner. Gently peel the shells off the cooled eggs.

Since we’ll be using the apple with its skin on, wash it thoroughly. A good tip is to soak the apple in a mixture of water and a little vinegar for about 5 minutes before rinsing it under running water. This helps remove any wax or pesticide residue, ensuring it’s clean to eat.

After patting the washed apple dry with a paper towel, core it and thinly slice it into julienne strips. Aim for strips that are not too thin to maintain a pleasant crisp texture when you bite into the sandwich. (Note: The apple weighed approximately 161g after removing the core and seeds).
