- 2 fresh button mushrooms
- 1/2 medium onion
Rich Cream Sauce Ingredients
- 100ml heavy cream
- 200ml milk
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1/2 clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic)
- Olive oil, as needed
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 100ml heavy cream
- 200ml milk
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1/2 clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic)
- Olive oil, as needed
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing all your ingredients for the spaghetti and cream sauce. Pre-chopping the onion, bacon, and mushrooms will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Finely dice the onion into about 0.5cm pieces. Cut the bacon into bite-sized, rustic pieces. Using slightly thicker strips of bacon will add a more satisfying chew.
Step 3
Clean the button mushrooms and slice them into approximately 0.5cm thick rounds. Slicing them too thinly might cause them to break apart during cooking.
Step 4
Lightly drizzle olive oil in a pan and sauté the minced garlic over low heat until fragrant. You want a gentle aroma, not browned garlic. (Tip: For enhanced flavor and convenience, you can pre-soak minced garlic in olive oil; it infuses the oil beautifully!)
Step 5
Once the garlic starts to turn a light golden color, add the diced onion and sauté together for about 2 more minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent and releases its natural sweetness.
Step 6
Now, add the prepared bacon to the pan and cook it with the onions. Cooking the bacon until it’s nicely browned and releases its savory fat will enhance the overall flavor.
Step 7
When the bacon is partially cooked, pour in 200ml of milk. Once the milk begins to simmer, reduce the heat slightly.
Step 8
Next, add 100ml of heavy cream. The addition of heavy cream will make the sauce wonderfully rich and velvety.
Step 9
Add 1 Tbsp of butter to enrich the sauce further. (Tip: For convenience, portion butter and freeze it, then use as needed.)
Step 10
Finally, season the sauce with a pinch of salt and black pepper to your liking. Stir continuously over low heat until the sauce reaches your desired consistency; it should thicken nicely. You’ll notice it becoming richer and more ‘꾸덕한’ (deuk-deuk-han – thick and luscious).
Step 11
In a pot of generously salted boiling water, add the spaghetti and cook for 9 minutes – that’s 1 minute less than the package instructions. (Tip: Adding about 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water seasons the pasta from the inside out.)
Step 12
While the pasta is cooking, keep the cream sauce warm over low heat. Once the pasta is al dente, drain it thoroughly using a colander. Immediately add the drained pasta to the pan with the cream sauce. Toss everything together over medium heat for about 1-2 minutes, allowing the pasta and sauce to meld beautifully. This helps the sauce cling perfectly to the noodles.
Step 13
And there you have it! A delightful, thick and creamy spaghetti, lovingly coated with rich sauce and perfectly cooked pasta, ready to be enjoyed by the whole family. Serve immediately and savor every bite!
