Creamy Ricotta and Fresh Tomato Salad
How to Make a Super Simple Ricotta Cheese and Tomato Salad
A delightful salad featuring a generous amount of creamy ricotta cheese, perfectly paired with fresh tomatoes. It’s incredibly easy to make and looks as beautiful as it tastes!
Salad Ingredients- 1 ripe tomato
- 1 portion (approx. 100-150g) fresh ricotta cheese
- 3 Tbsp balsamic glaze (e.g., Ponti brand, available at E-mart)
- 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- A pinch of freshly ground black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by washing the tomato thoroughly and removing its stem. Then, slice the tomato into bite-sized, round pieces, about 0.5 cm thick. Slicing them slightly thicker than paper-thin will help maintain their shape and texture on the salad.
Step 2
Next, artfully arrange the fresh ricotta cheese on top of the tomato slices. Gently break the ricotta cheese into dollops or chunks using a fork, and place them decoratively over the tomatoes. Handle the cheese gently to avoid crushing it too much.
Step 3
Now, it’s time to drizzle with olive oil to enhance the salad’s flavors. Using a good quality extra virgin olive oil will impart a richer taste. Lightly drizzle the oil evenly over both the tomatoes and the ricotta cheese, as if creating a delicate rain.
Step 4
Here comes the star of the salad – the balsamic glaze! Drizzle it beautifully for a touch of sweet and tangy flavor. I personally recommend ‘Ponti balsamic glaze’ for its excellent taste, which you can easily find at E-mart. Create a visually appealing pattern, like zig-zags, or decorate as you wish for an even more appetizing presentation.
Step 5
Finally, add a final touch by grinding some fresh black pepper over the salad. The peppery aroma will beautifully complement the flavors of the tomato and ricotta cheese. A little goes a long way, so adjust the amount to your preference. Your delicious Ricotta and Tomato Salad is now ready to be enjoyed!
